The Easter weekend came and went so quickly that we didn’t manage to say our goodbyes properly. The S4R crew decided to bump in along together with Calvary Church’s Easter Musical, ‘The Easter Story: He Is Alive!’ at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil early April. As always, it was a three-night affair throughout the Easter weekend. The stadium was packed all three nights which equaled to about 10, 540 people altogether! Now that definitely was a massive crowd alright. And trust me, our Easter weekend was more than a holiday - filled with fun at our booth and the tiredness that sank in after each night was simply overwhelming. After all, what brings us more joy than anything is being a step closer to all of you!

“Only say something when there is something worth mentioning.” 

And what we have this time, is definitely worth mentioning! Why the long absence you might wonder? We’ve actually been coming up with plans and making entries to various events just to bring Shirts 4 Real much closer to all of you out there. Well this time around, we’ve marked our spot at SMKDU’s Christian Fellowship (DUCF) Rally on the 4th of April 2009 which was held in DUMC’s Dream Centre. A rough estimate of more than 200 students were gathered for the occasion and how could we ever miss out on an opportunity such as this?

We were early to arrive, all eager to set up our booth. Many students dropped by to browse through our collections even before we were fully up, and my oh my, did they express such excitement and enthusiasm that even the S4R crew were so taken in by the students’ excitement. Many found us familiar as they had spotted us at Positive Cafe, located opposite Taylor’s College in SS15, Subang Jaya.

Now, this is not just it! Sales started pouring in as the rally drew to a close, having the students to swamp around our booth. Almost all the young ladies who purchased their t-shirts got their hands on our new collection, Illuminate - The gold foil; limited edition ones. And guess what? We only have ONE last piece left! If you’re yet to get your hands on ‘em, do get a hold of us as soon as possible because no promises if there’s still any left. 

Highlight of the night; Our limited edition tee that’s numbered 01/50 was sold on that very night itself! Now now, who’s the lucky owner? Joanna Ho, an ex-student from SMKDU. When told of the number, she squealed, did a little jump and started giggling non-stop. Her expression was simply priceless. We all love happy customers, don’t we? And to add, Joanna was one extremely proud and excited owner of the t-shirt! Sadly, we couldn’t capture her immediate reaction but most importantly, we got a snap shot of the lucky owner of the tee labeled 01/50!

Along with two of her friends, they bought a t-shirt each and left a happy trio, grinning from ear to ear. Such satisfation did we experience that night - packing up never seemed so easy! Seeing such happy people, purchasing our tees and leaving with a contented smile really makes us more than glad! All of you at the rally who purchased our tees totally made our day! We’d like to express our honest appreciation to all who bought our tees and especially the DUCF committee for having us at the rally. It was all more than worth it!

Next destination — Putra Stadium!

The year 2008 has came and gone and it has indeed been an amazing year for Shirts 4 Real. Many things has happened in the past year and there is no doubt that we came this far because of YOU! During the long silence (or so it seem), the Shirts 4 Real crew has been meeting frequently to strategize and to plan on what’s to take place in this brand new year - 2009. After all the head-cracking, table-smashing brain storming sessions, many exciting plans are placed into the calendar and soon these plans will begin to unfold.
  

The global recession? Yes yes, we know about it and Shirts 4 Real not spared from it’s effect as well. It is tough as some of our alliances have been badly hit, causing cost of all kinds to be frequently uncertain, resulting in rather difficult estimations and allocations.  However, the crew has been making careful plans since then to ensure what we have in mind will still be executed without bringing you, the awesome supporters down

It is in times like this where Shirts 4 Real is consistantly reminded of what’s it all about - to create meaningful, real shirts that will impact real people, real lives

Our apologies to all your S4R fans out there for the lack of updates from us. Rest assure that S4R crew are working hard (and when I say hard, it means REAL hard) for the next batch of tees. It’s gonna be awesome I tell you. Okay, enough of hyping up the next event, let’s just stick with the main title.To recap, since it’s been quite a while ago;The Fleur De Lis was a 3-day-joint-fashion event between Shirts 4 Real and A Shopaholic’s Den. It was held at one of the bungalows along Jalan Maarof at the very heart of Bangsar! The bazaar had 30 to 40 over stalls in total and I’m pretty sure that anyone who came did not leave empty handed.The crowd was overflowing, the traffic was crazy! We had to extend our crew members to do traffic diversions. And trust me when I say this, it’s not fun when you have to do traffic diversions. Takes a tough cookie to do it! But obviously we got the job done - in utmost civilised manner, obviously.For those of you who swing by - S4R thanks you profusely for your support in making this event a success. Although I had to say, it was a little sweaty, a little sticky and a little pack, it didn’t stop our shopaholics from having a good time aye? (back me up on this statement, girls!)If you caught a glimpse of our very creative and friendly camera man going around being a shutterbug - here’s some of the pictures he took throughout the 3 days. To illuminate is to shine, but what does it really mean to shine?

To shine is to bring hope to the things and situation around us, to bring a positive vibe to a world that is becoming more and more hopeless in every sense of the word, everyone wants to make a difference or even be different, but people are merely hoping with their arms crossed. Why not WE step out to become agents of change in this world instead while it is facing the darkest times in history?

Where there is hope, there is hope. A hopeless situation changes as soon as someone cares. As soon as one believes that things will be better, there is hope. It’s fine to hope for the best, but at times, it’s not enough. We cannot merely hope, but to take action. Hope for the best, and put everything you have into it to make things happen. And with this hope, the world will seem brighter for you, and the people around you.

It’s not a “spotlight” blazing right into people’s faces saying “HEY! Here’s the right way to do things!”, but to illuminate is to be warm, inviting and genuine, in doing so we make ourselves approachable and it is then we can make a change in the lives of others by living a life of example so that others may see that there is still hope for a better future, to hold on and not give up knowing that ultimately, there is SOMETHING that holds EVERYTHING together.
